Point Einbock (Maibock Style)

This version reminds me of the old Coors Winterbru. I found that beer drinkable but not really rich or refreshing. I would have to say that I am disappointed with the flavor of this beer. It is not my favorite to be sure. I am disappointed because most all of the other point beers are well made and well balanced. It is by no means terrible but it does pale in comparison with the others.

4 out of 5 points...Mr. Zappa your point is well made.

Natural Ice

"Ice brewed for a naturally smooth taste", yeah right...this swill tasted like crap or carp or prac but it did not taste good. All I could taste was the 5.9 percent alcohol and not much else.

Lazy Mutt Farmhouse

Nice and light, clean flavored with very little else. High priced soda pop...if that is your thing? Fine...not for me.

3 out of 5 points...I like some substance in my beers.

Olde English 800 Malt Liquor

I don't know...this brew is supposed to be the swill of street people and those that want to get really drunk really, really fast. I like this in moderation...it is smooth, golden colored and really potent. I have resisted becoming a beer snob by reviewing the beers that no one drinks from Europe and have focused on only American beers that are not flavored for the most part and are showcased as they are. I might make a few exceptions as I do enjoy some foreign brands. But as long as there are domestic brews to quaff, I will remain true to the USA hangover.

4 out of 5 for a malt liquor, I like it and you will too.

New Glarus Unplugged

I really have enjoyed the brews that these people put out. Nice prices and good wholesome brewing quality. But, gosh, this brew reminds me of Spaten. I really enjoyed it with its smooth quality and ample malt with assertive yet not overwhelming hop character. Nice sticky remnants of the sweet malt remain on my lips and once again, I am saving one of these to enjoy a good cigar with.

5 out of 5...oh yeah.

Schell Snowstorm 2008

Welitnachts bier(sp) Nice reddish brown with an extremely complex maltiness showing hints of rye, sourdough and cocoa or coffee perhaps. There are nine different malts. This is not a fizzy beer but it leaves a sweetness on the lips and an alcohol tingle on the tongue. Nice. This would be great with a cigar of good quality.

4.8 out of 5 Rich and flavorful...representative of the complex recipe and fine brewing methods in play.

South Shore Honey Pils

This beer is another good one from Wisconsin. I liked the label with its classy gold and green with cream as a background. There was nice sweet malt with good wholesome hop balance. The flavors were rich and it poured with a nice malty head where its cloudy golden color is showcased. I enjoyed the spicy hops and the refreshing finish. Fine Pilsener.

4.6 out of 5 Nice pilsener beer.

Goose Island Nut Brown Ale

This ale is a good ale...Problem is I just do not like Nut Brown Ale. I hate the over sweet stuff. This one is perhaps not as good as a Samuel Smiths...but it still sucks to me. Even though it is a good Nut Brown Ale.
